Living in New York it can often feel like you're a long way from the great outdoors, so knowing where to find the best indoor climbing centers is essential! Here's our run-down of a few of our favourites!
With multiple centers all across New York including Manhattan, Westchester and Brooklyn, The Cliffs is a great place to start. They've made a huge effort to make climbing inclusive through their youth outreach program as well as their 'Young women who crush' leadership development program.
Renowned for its grand open space and high walls ideal for rope work, the Dumbo in Brooklyn is iconic, situated as it is under the Brooklyn bridge.
Since 2009 Brooklyn Boulders has been supporting a diverse and creative community of indoor climbers. They have since opened new facilities in both Boston and Chicago and it's easy to see why.
We love Brooklyn Boulders for the passion and excitement you'll see amongst the staff, the instructors and the climbers every time you go!
Brooklyn boulders Queensbridge is a serious competitor for The Cliffs nearby providing excellent facilities for bouldering and rope work.

The gym features 7,000 square feet of climbing terrain, Moon Boards and a great range of walls for all abilities making this a great place for beginners and more experienced crushers.
OK, so at the time of writing Vital's 24/7 bouldering gym in Brooklyn hasn't actually opened yet, but with an open date of spring 2020, we're really excited!
The facilities look to be second to none with features including rooftop bouldering garden, yoga, youth programs, saunas and amazing onsite facilities.
We can't wait for Vital to open and we think it's going to be right up there with the best of them.
The last, but by no-means least entry on our list is MetroRock in Brooklyn. They offer a great range of climbing walls for all ages and abilities and have great instructors on hand.
With climbing centers in Massachusetts and Vermont, MetroRock is a much loved and trusted name ideal for serious climbers through to children's birthday parties. What's not to love?
